Can't open valves

Hey imolaza Team,

My wife recently gifted me a 16-zone controller, which was awesome. I installed it according to the specs, but when I powered it on for the first time, I noticed the controller couldn’t properly open or close the solenoids; they’re all brand-new Rain Bird valves.

I rewired the solenoids, thinking there might be a short somewhere, but nothing changed. The solenoids stay open all the time — the master valve and zones 1 and 2 (the first zones I set up on this new irrigation system). I even bought a new 24V, 2-amp power supply, hoping the extra power would help, but that didn’t fix it either. At this point, I’m pretty confused about what to try next. Any insight would be greatly appreciated — we’re heading into peak summer here.

BTW, I live in Australia, the temp will go crazy in a few days.

Hi, regarding the valve power: the ImoLaza controller outputs 24V AC. A cable length of around 30 meters (about 100 feet) results in very minimal voltage drop, so this distance is not a problem.
However, the key point is the rated voltage of your solenoid valves:
If the valves are rated at 24V or below, the ImoLaza controller can drive them normally.
If the valves require more than 24V, the controller may not be able to activate them.
Also, you cannot power the ImoLaza controller using your existing 32.5V AC power supply. The device must use a standard 24V AC transformer.

Imolaza Hello, I am trying to add my Imolaza to Alexa, and it says "No results." Hasn't Imola integrated with Alexa?
