Hi, I don't know if this is the right place to put this question out, anyway. Recently I've been having some issues with one of the sprinklers in my backyard. About a week ago, I noticed that this one sprinkler head would move up and down while watering, something I ain't never seen before.

Plus, when that sprinkler is on, I can hear this drumming kinda noise coming from the pipes, like someone banging on them. I checked the wiring and connections and they seem solid as a rock, so it probably ain't an electrical issue.

Then, what else can I check? Seems can not post a video here, so just two pictures below, one for the up and one for the down.

Have you tried replacing the solenoid for that zone?

Not yet, I'll look at it tomorrow morning, thank you.

Only go up and down once or always like this? If only once at the beginning, might just be the loosened solenoid, turn it clockwise a little bit would help.

Actually it was a lot ups and downs, till the schedule stopped. The spray from that sprinkler head is pretty small.

First, check if the water pressure has changed recently, something like a new home built in your neighborhood might decrease the water pressure,
Then, take apart the valve and take a look at the diaphragm, which would cause a leak if damaged.

Whiteonrice Sounds complicated, no new buildings here in recent months, Measuring pressure and taking apart the valve seems beyond my ability, I might need to hire out this job. Still thank you.

As recommended by you all, my brother helped me replace the solenoid but it did not work, then we took apart the valve and changed the diaphragm, which did the trick. Thank you all for the help.
